In Poland, according to the latest estimates, the strawberry harvest should be similar to that of last year.
Despite drought conditions and some meteorological vagaries this spring, according to experts from the Polish Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics, this year's strawberry harvest should not be less than that of 2019. Production last year Polish reached 175,000 tons of strawberries.
The areas are increasing, there are about 50,000 hectares of strawberry crops in Poland. Or an estimated production capacity of 180-200,000 tonnes of strawberries.
Most Polish strawberries are exported mainly in frozen form. Polish exports will be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a SpotData study for Santander Bank Polska, the value of Polish food exports in 2020 could decrease by around 8%, from 31.4 billion EUR last year to 28.9 billion EUR. The extent of the decline would be the largest since Poland's accession to the European Union.
