In South Africa, CGA and FPEF have announced the closure of exports to the EU for 2023 (Photo: cga.co.za).
South African citrus fruit is generally available on European markets until 15 October. After this date, European production, particularly in Spain, meets the demand for citrus fruit.
In South Africa, CGA (Citrus Growers' Association of South Africa) and FPEF (Fresh Produce Exporters' Forum) have announced that exports to the EU will cease in 2023.
In South Africa, the last day of inspection for oranges exported to Europe, excluding exports from the Western Cape and Northern Cape provinces, is Friday 15 September.
These last batches will be able to reach their destinations in Europe before 15 October.
