Lemons: Turkish domestic market on the rise
MLK
These lemons, harvested in March-April, remain all summer in natural caves, where the constant temperature of 10-12 degrees allows to keep them about 6 months. This year, the harvest of lemons in Turkey being lower than in 2011-2012, less lemons have been stored and a few weeks of the new harvest, the fruits are sold in the domestic market between 3 and 5 Turkish liras (about 1 euro = 2.7 TL) which represtents a prohibitive price for Turkish housekeeping.
In 2012-2013, the season began on September 18, 2012. It seems that this year, the season should start earlier, with good prices.
