In an interview with the Agerpres news agency, Viorel Morărescu, director at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), said that by 2022 the country would have 13,000 operators and 600,000 hectares. In 2023, the country will have 14,000 operators and 700,000 hectares. An increase of +16.6%.
At the 2nd edition of the European Festival of Organic and Local Traditions held in Ibanesti (September 06-08), Viorel Morărescu stressed that Romania has the natural and human potential to develop organic farming. One of the objectives of the Festival was to launch an initiative to promote organic farming in Eastern Europe and the “BIO-Carpatica” brand, a common brand for the 8 countries crossed by the Carpathian Mountains.
