Constitution of a Spanish Forum of potato

The new Forum,meeting point of all links in the value chain, has set a goal to make new proposals to relaunch the cultivation of potatoes.

New meeting point of all actors in the sector: the Foro Español de Patata.

The associations of potato industry (ASONAL, ASOCIAFRUIT, CIPP, ASOPOCYL), with agrifood cooperatives, associations of distribution (ACES, ASEDAS), group Eroski and marketing companies (Torribas, Pepsur Marketing SLU) founded a new entity: the Foro Español de Patata.

The new Forum has elected its head: Roberto Ruiz de Infante (already the president of Committee of the Potato Fepex) as President and Aitor Ruiz Lacasa (from Eroski Group) as Vice-President.

The potato sector developed negatively in Spain. The areas passed from 257,200 hectares in 1992 to 73,700 hectares in 2012, the production of 5.1 million tons to 2.1 million tons over the same period.
