By provoking power cuts, this earthquake limits the capacities of cooling of the harvest of grapes.
The association of the Chilean exporters (ASOEX) announced the return to normal after the earthquake of February 27th, but the country have again been struck by retorts of the magnitude 6,9.
This new earthquake was felt in the center of the country, in the capital Santiago and the regions of Rancagua, San Fernando and of Valparaiso.
Numerous power cuts disrupted the installations of packaging and storage. The prolonged breakdowns made lose a big part of stored fruits.
Even if the ASOEX is reassuring, the professionals are afraid of a shortage in the supply of Chilean dessert grapes which could go on until May.
