Satisfactory production but the drought remains a threat

Satisfactory production of potatoes in Bulgaria.

The National Association of producers of potatoes believes that the production is satisfactory. Producers were able to sell more than 200 000 tons of potatoes. The coming year will be even better if the production is improved so as to achieve the target of 300 000 tons.

The only limitation is the amount of available water. There was no snow so far and drought is likely to start very early. Farmers are asking the authorities to provide financial assistance for the purchase of irrigation systems. The Ministry of Agriculture is aware of the problem, promised measures.
