According to statistics from the USDA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in 2004 the country imported 38,676 tons of Mexican avocados (value about U.S. $ 59 million); in 2014, on the first 5 months, 258,430 tons of lawyers who came from Mexico (worth U.S. $ 567 million).
U.S. demand continues to grow steadily according to professionals. Besides the California production, growth leads to an increase of imports from Mexico.
The popularity of dishes made from avocado across the country as well as the change in consumer perception may explain the continued growth in demand. 10 years ago consumers felt that the avocado was making fat, now we boast the nutritional qualities and the "good fat".
