Fresh fruit leads Peru’s agroexport growth in early 2026

Several major crops recorded double-digit gains as shipments expanded across key international markets.
Peru’s agricultural exports reached USD 3.899 billion between January and April 2026, up 6.9% from the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, MIDAGRI.
Fresh fruit and vegetables were among the main contributors to the increase.
Grapes remain the leading export
Fresh grape exports reached USD 772 million during the first four months of the year, making grapes Peru’s largest non-traditional agricultural export. Shipments increased by 16.4% compared with the same period of 2025.
Avocados ranked second, with exports worth USD 463 million, up 21.5% year on year.
Fresh blueberry exports generated USD 340 million, rising by 41.1%, while fresh mango shipments increased by 18.6% to USD 266 million.
Other fresh fruit exports reached USD 126 million, an increase of 37.1%.
Fresh asparagus exports totalled USD 85 million between January and April. Frozen mango shipments contributed a further USD 77 million, reflecting the importance of both fresh and processed fruit within Peru’s export portfolio.
Together, grapes, avocados, blueberries, mangoes, other fresh fruit, asparagus and frozen mangoes generated more than USD 2.1 billion in export revenue.
Main destination markets
The United States and the Netherlands remained the leading markets for Peru’s agricultural exports. Other important destinations included Spain, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, the United Kingdom, Colombia, Canada and China.
The ten largest markets accounted for 80.3% of Peru’s total agricultural export value during the period.
