The Spanish Association of Fruit, Table Grape, and Other Agricultural Products Producers and Exporters (APOEXPA) is set to host the next edition of the International Table Grapes Symposium. It serves as a nexus for global stakeholders, including producers, researchers, and industry experts, to delve into market dynamics, challenges, prospects, and consumer preferences within the table grape sector.
The event is held once in three years, and the eleventh edition will take place in Murcia (Spain) in 2026.
The previous edition was carried out earlier this year in South Africa and gathered 400 participants from all over the world.
According to APOEXPA, Murcia commercialized 200,000 tons of seedless grapes in the 2023 season. The sector's innovative capacity shines through initiatives like the ITUM IMIDA varietal improvement program in collaboration with the regional government and participation in BLOOM FRESH, focused on developing premium fruit varieties for the market.
In 2022, Spain's table grape exports reached 176,456 tons, valued at €403.2 million, according to data from the Department of Customs and Special Taxes. Murcia emerged as the leading autonomous community exporter, shipping 117,187 tons, followed by the Valencia region with 30,028 tons.
