Campaign to promote the consumption and public awareness.
The National Bureau of garlic launched a major campaign of defense of Spanish garlic, to promote its consumption and to discover its nutritional qualities but also the impacts of the production.
This campaign is the response of the recent agreement between the EU and China, which extended from 12 375 tons quota allocated to China. The National Bureau of Garlic expressed its dissatisfaction on the agreement made despite the economic interests of some EU territories.
In addition to the poster campaign which has just begun, the National Bureau sent a box of 10 kilos of garlic to all major medias in Spain, to the Ministry of Agriculture, heads of regional administrations, with a record information explaining the situation of domestic production.
The Board believes that this extension of the Chinese quota will increase the pressure on prices in the EU, the price of Chinese garlic is very weak, between 0.50 and 0.60 euros per kilogram.
