The initiative will bring food companies and logistics specialists together to identify practical solutions for temperature-controlled exports.
Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has created a new working group to support the overseas expansion of the country’s food industry.
The New Business Creation Subcommittee will focus this year on cold-chain systems needed to export and distribute Japanese agricultural and food products. The ministry said differences in logistics infrastructure between countries remain a major obstacle for companies entering foreign markets.
Members will share information on existing cold-chain projects, available technologies and government support. They will also examine problems reported by companies operating overseas and develop proposed solutions and case studies for the wider food industry.
The first meeting is scheduled for 24 July. It will cover international cold-chain challenges, support programmes, food technology and cold-chain development in India. Participating companies will discuss their own logistics problems and possible solutions.
Two further meetings are planned for October 2026 and January 2027. The group is expected to produce recommendations and practical examples that could help Japanese exporters maintain product quality and build more reliable distribution networks abroad.
