Andalusia consolidated itself as the leader in vegetable exports in Spain during the period from January to October 2023. The data reveal a total turnover of 3,181 million euros and a year-on-year increase of 4%.
According to reports from Andalusia TRADE-Business Agency for Transformation and Economic Development of the Junta de Andalucía, the region accounted for 47% of total sales in Spain; followed by the Region of Murcia (22.1%), with 1,495 million, and the Valencian Community (13.2%), with 894 million.
The Andalusian record is largely attributed to the province of Almería, which concentrates 80% of the region's total exports, reaching 2,546 million euros. This figure represents 38% of the total amount at the national level (6,756 million) during the first ten months of the year.
Among the most exported products, peppers stand out, with 811 million and an increase of 11.6%. They are followed by tomatoes, with 669 million and an increase of 3.3%, and cucumbers and gherkins, with 576 million and an increase of 3.4%.
Germany is positioned as the main destination for exports, with 1,129 million, representing 36% of the total and experiencing an increase of 9.6%. Other notable destinations include France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Poland, consolidating Andalusia as a leading exporter in the European market.
