Logistical and holiday factors impact volumes, while the Netherlands and the United States lead the destination markets.
During the first week of 2025, 7,428 tons of fresh blueberries were exported from Chile, according to the latest report from the Chilean Blueberry Committee. This volume is limited for the season, due to several factors, including the disruption for the New Year's holidays and, mainly, overloads at ports that prolonged vessel loading times.
Through week 1, cumulative exports reached 43,139 tons, 13% more than the same date last season, but 26% less than in the 2022-23 season. This volume represents 11% of the total shipped so far, 12% more than last year, but 30% less than in 2022-23.
In the first week of 2025, the most exported varieties were Legacy and Duke, with 47% and 19% respectively. Blue Ribbon ranked third with 9%, standing out as the leading new variety. The latter accounted for 24% of cumulative shipments, while varieties not recommended for fresh export accounted for only 1.5% of the total.
The main destination markets were the Netherlands and the United States, with a 40% and 33% share, respectively. Korea and the United Kingdom follow with 9% and 8%, while the rest of the destinations accumulate the remaining 10%.
