The closure of air and land routes and the sharp decline in tourism will hurt Pakistan's exports.
PFVA (Pakistan Fruits and Vegetable Importers Exporters and Merchants Association) estimates that losses could reach $150 million over the next 2 months for all Pakistan's fruit and vegetable exports.
Fruit and vegetable exports by land to Iran, Afghanistan and the countries of Central Asia have been suspended. Airlines have reduced or completely stopped their activities to Europe, the Far East and the Middle East, which has resulted in a significant reduction in exported volumes. The closure of hotels and restaurants as well as the sharp decline in tourism are also damaging agricultural exports.
