Boom imports of pears

Little or no imports until 2012/13 and then the following season a boom of pears imports by India.

APEDA ( Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority ) announces that India imported nearly 14 600 tons of fresh pears for the period 2013/14 .

These imports of fresh pears came from China ( 9,253 tons ) from South Africa ( 2799 tons) and the US ( 2,518 tons).

India produces 340,000 tons of pears. China ( No. 1 worldwide ) should reach production of 18.5 million tons and the world production is around 24.4 million tonnes .
