New growth of Fruits & Vegetables exports

The good start of the year for the Greek exports of Fruits & Vegetables is confirmed with an increase of + 24.6% in value and + 18.5% in volume for the 1st quarter of 2018.
According to data ΕΛΣΤΑΤ (ELSTAT) processed by INCOFRUIT-HELLAS, the Greek association of fruit vegetables and juices, Greek exports in the first quarter of 2018 totaled 398,480 tons for a value of 275.82 million euros.
The exported fruits reached 318 914 tons (+ 17.7% compared to 2017) and totaled 216.36 million euros (+ 33.7%). Vegetables exported increased by 22% in volume, but the value decreased by 0.2%. A few products recorded remarkable growth in value, including strawberries (+ 102.5%), mandarins (+ 55.9%), kiwis (+ 25.5%) and oranges (+ 12%).
Preliminary data for the following months and forecasts for summer fruit exports indicate good prospects for the sector.
