Almost one month earlier than the campaign of 2013, late year after an episode of exceptionally cold weather in March 2013.
In 2014, the production started with a little in advance of a classic year and will ramp up in the coming days, then throughout the month of April. The French asparagus will be at the appointment of Easter, a time when we are seeing a "peak" of consumption.
The collective of Asparagus (which includes 7 producer organizations) notes that at the level of its members the total production area is slightly higher than in 2013: +2%. The target volume of 4,300 tons should be achieved. In the future, the French production will further progress with planting forecasts in 2014 which are up by +20% compared to previous years.
