Spanish production of avocado is rising

Increase of the Spanish avocado production, leader in european markets

The professional organization Asaja Malaga indicates that the production of avocado reaches 46,700 tons, in progression of 6% compared to the last year. The avocados of Hass variety are still the majority, with 34 500 tonnes. The production of bio avocados reaches 700 tons.

The Spanish production is the leader in the European market. The internal market absorbs 9,200 tons, sales to the EU countries totaled to 31,000 tonnes and 5 800 tonnes to third countries. The main customers of the Spanish avocado are France, the United Kingdom and Germany.
