Farmers are urged to apply mitigation measures as conditions develop.
Chile’s agrometeorological authorities have issued a high-temperature warning covering fruit-growing areas between the Coquimbo and Metropolitan regions, with elevated maximums expected to persist through Monday, 9 February.
According to the Dirección Meteorológica de Chile (DMC), inland valleys will see the most intense heat, with daytime temperatures forecast to climb into the low-to-mid 30s °C range over several consecutive days. The warm spell is expected to build gradually from Friday, peaking over the weekend in parts of central production zones.
While coastal areas will remain cooler, interior orchards, particularly in valley locations, face the greatest exposure to heat stress. Wind activity is also forecast across some sections of the central and southern zones, adding further pressure on crops and field conditions.
Growers are being advised to monitor official updates and take protective measures where necessary as the event unfolds.
