The initiative is a structural step to support export competitiveness.
Thailand has launched an international-standard vegetable seed production centre in Khon Kaen province to strengthen export competitiveness and support farmer income, according to the Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
Production
The facility will produce high-quality vegetable seeds that meet international standards, forming part of Thailand’s plan to position itself as a hub for tropical seed production. Authorities are encouraging cooperation with private companies to expand certified seed output and ensure consistent supply for domestic and export markets.
Officials emphasise that improving seed quality is essential for stabilising yields and maintaining reliability across the horticulture supply chain.
Sector development
The government is promoting the seed industry as a higher-value segment within agriculture, with a focus on certified production systems and technical capacity. Strengthening these systems is expected to support productivity, improve product quality and expand export potential.
The new centre will give farmers access to certified seeds and more stable production conditions, supporting income growth while reinforcing Thailand’s role in international seed markets.
