The first country in the world with 100% organic agriculture

Famous for introducing the GNH (Gross Domestic Happiness), which measures the level of happiness, rather than the GDP (gross domestic product) to measure the level of wealth of the inhabitants, Bhutan once again shows itself innovative.
Pema Gyamtsho, Minister of Agriculture, announced that Bhutan will have organic farming 100% by 2020. Food security and sustainable development are basic for the future of the country.
Bhutan (738,000 inhabitants) has mainly organic agriculture. Farmers have opted for organic farming, believing that fertilizers and pesticides are too expensive and too serious are the implications for the water and the environment. Production is expected to increase through improved agricultural techniques (irrigation, traditional varieties more resistant, agricultural waste to fertilize crops).
The government expects an increase in exports to neighboring countries, China and India, which require healthier foods.
