Mid-season potato production in Spain will grow by 3.1% in the 2024 season, reaching 822,063 tons, despite the 1.8% reduction in cultivation area, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture. In Galicia, although the planted area decreased by 2.2%, production increased by 5.8%, reaching 298,289 tons. The province of Orense maintained its area with 5,650 hectares, but achieved a significant increase in production, reaching 146,400 tons. In La Coruña, both area and production decreased.
Castilla y León allocated 5,393 hectares to the crop, with a slight decrease in area. However, production increased by 4.5%, reaching 266,111 tons, with Valladolid and Salamanca as the leading provinces in the cultivation of this tuber.
