Pineapple and banana continue to dominate demand

Costa Rica exported more than 31.4 million kilograms of organic products in 2025, with fruit remaining one of the strongest parts of the country’s offer.

According to the State Phytosanitary Service, pineapple and banana continued to lead demand for Costa Rican organic products abroad. These crops helped strengthen the country’s position in markets where buyers place high value on certification, quality and production standards.

Europe remains the top destination

The European Union was the main market for Costa Rican organic exports in 2025. Shipments to the bloc reached more than 18.2 million kilograms.

Pineapple and banana drive demand

Banana and pineapple appeared in several export formats and destinations. Canada imported products such as banana pulp, frozen pineapple and pineapple juice, while Switzerland bought fresh pineapple and pineapple juice. Fresh pineapple was also listed among the products reaching high-value international markets.

More markets for organic produce

Beyond Europe and North America, Costa Rican organic products also reached destinations such as Australia, Brazil, Chile, Curaçao, the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Together, these markets accounted for more than 13 million kilograms of Costa Rican organic exports in 2025.
