Dramatic increase of pomegranate export in 2018 made by turkish fruit exporters
The pomegranate harvest in Turkey has increased significantly in 2018 due to favorable weather conditions in the Antalya and Denizli regions. For this reason, the availability of pomegranate is currently still high in the local market. Of course, this situation has affected prices. Another factor related to prices that concern producers and exporters this year are the costs of management, labor and packaging, which have risen markedly due to economic fluctuations in Turkey in recent months. However, it should be noted that the pomegranate prices in Turkey are still competitive compared to 2017.
As Anı Tarım Fresh Fruit Export ve Trade Limited Company reports, during the previous season company has exported around 1000 tons of pomegranate to five main destinations till the end of January 2018, and this year it is expected to reach 1300 tons till the end of season-late February.
Most of the company's consignments are delivered to Germany, France, England, Russia, Poland, Hong Kong and Singapore. In the coming years, it is planned to expand the activity of “Ani” brand in other markets, adding other new directions, such as the Scandinavian countries and Canada.
