Walmart plans to open 40 Supercentres in 2011

Wal-Mart Canada announced the construction of 40 Supercentres  (devoting 25% of their surface for fresh food) during the next year.

Projects, including construction of new stores and renovating existing branches, will represent an investment of 500 million.

Supercentres, which devoting 25% of their area for fresh food  will add: bakery products, meats, fruit and vegetables.

On December 31st 2010, Walmart had 323 branches across Canada, including 119 Supercentres. On January 31st 2011, Walmart will count 325 branches, including 124 Supercentres.
