Faster than shipping, less expensive than air transport, rail transportation from China will be developed.
A new line connects the city of Wuhan (Hubei province) with Europe this week. According to Wuhan Asia-Europe Logistics (WAE), which operates the trains, it is about 12,000 kilometers from its departure to central China on arrival in Germany.
To date, nearly 1,800 freight trains link China to Europe, providing imports and exports valued at USD 17 billion.
Safe, convenient and efficient, rail transport will be developed. The National Development and Reform Commission (CNDR) has planned to increase the number of trains running between China and Europe by 5,000 by 2020.
According to the development plan, the freight train system will consist of 3 roads: the eastern road, the central road and the western road. The roads will link not only China to Europe, but also to East Asia and Southeast Asia. Some 43 transport centers will be set up along the 3 routes and 43 railway lines will be created.
