AICS to present agroecology, rural development and finance tools at Macfrut 2026
Italy
Tuesday 31 March 2026
The agency’s participation aims to connect development programmes with global agri-food markets and highlight products from partner countries.
The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation will take part in the Macfrut 2026 from 21 to 23 April at the Rimini Expo Centre, presenting a large exhibition space and a programme focused on strengthening international agricultural partnerships.
The agency plans to host a stand of about 300 square metres, bringing together institutional representatives, producers from partner countries and ten overseas delegations from cities including Tirana, Bogotá, Tunis, Kampala and Hanoi.
According to the agency, the goal of its presence is to deepen cooperation between development programmes, agri-food supply chains and Italian institutions, while highlighting projects already underway across the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia. Officials indicated that agriculture is increasingly linked to global challenges such as food security, climate change and sustainable resource management, and that field programmes are designed to support producers and rural communities as food systems evolve.
Focus on agroecology, rural development and financing tools
During the event, three thematic panels are scheduled to address agroecology, rural development experiences in Central America and financial mechanisms supporting sustainable agriculture. Some discussions will be linked to initiatives under the Italian government’s Piano Mattei, including projects such as Green Cities
and the Centro Agroalimentario de Manica (CAAM) in Mozambique.
Organisers of the fair noted that the collaboration with the development agency has grown over the past five editions, with both sides working to promote internationalisation of agri-food supply chains and knowledge exchange. They emphasised that the exhibition serves as a meeting point for innovation, trade and cooperation among global buyers, experts and producers.
Products from supported supply chains to be showcased
The agency’s stand will also host B2B meetings, product tastings and technical sessions featuring goods from supported agricultural chains. These products are expected to include coffee, cocoa, vanilla, dried fruit, moringa infusions and cassava-based products, illustrating the commercial potential of value-added crops from partner regions.
Companies, producer organisations and supply chain partners looking to expand their international reach are invited to connect with exhibitors and buyers at Macfrut 2026.
