Steady activity and record investments for the MIN in Cavaillon.
After record sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cavaillon wholesale market continues to see steady activity despite challenging conditions.
Established more than 60 years ago, the Cavaillon MIN’s operations have fluctuated in line with changes in the retail sector and the shipping of regional products. “Cavaillon has become a wholesale market for retailers,” confirms Laurent Alleton, the market’s sales and marketing manager. Established for over 40 years, its main wholesalers now offer a “full-service” selection of local products, as well as imports from Europe and overseas. The regional supply is highly seasonal, peaking from early March through late October.
Record Investments Over the Past 5 Years
The market has continued to modernize; it has now been fully upgraded with state-of-the-art refrigeration and cooling equipment and is powered by 17,000 m² of solar panels. A new entrance was created in 2020 to welcome customers. “Our growth also extends to the commercial side; we’re constantly reaching out to retailers and supermarkets to better understand their needs and strengthen our customer relationships,” explains Laurent. He also notes a gradual return by some supermarkets to wholesale channels. The MIN’s catchment area covers the departments of Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône, Gard, Drôme, and Var.
