Mango exports increased +7% year-on-year until week 9

In Peru, the 2021/22 mango season started in week 44 (November 1, 2021), and until the end of week 9 (March 6, 2022), exports reached 199,309 tons, which means an increase of +7% compared to the 186,235 tons shipped in the same period of the 2020/21 season, according to data from the Peruvian Association of Mango Producers and Exporters (APEM).
The main destination markets in the ongoing campaign are Europe, with a total of 111,280 tons (55.8% of the total); United States with 63,734 tons (32%), Canada with 8,662 tons, and other destinations with 15,633 tons.
The main markets for fresh mango shipped by sea are the US (35%), the Netherlands (31%) and Germany (8%). The main markets for fresh mangoes shipped by air are Spain (35%), the Netherlands (18%) and South Korea (18%).
According to APEM, frozen mango shipments from week 44 to the end of week 9 reached 34,740 tons, which means an increase of 9.2% compared to the 31,805 tons shipped in the same period of the previous season (2020/2021).
