Apple crop is set to decline by 8% in 2025.
According to Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de España, apple production in Spain is expected to reach about 500,700 tonnes this year, down 8% from 2024, though still slightly above the 10-year average. The Golden group remains dominant with nearly half the harvest, followed by Gala.
By contrast, pears will see a recovery, with output forecast at 246,600 tonnes, a rise of 10.5% year-on-year. The Conference variety leads with over half the volume and a strong 25% increase, while other types such as Ercolini-Coscia and Blanquilla will fall.
At the European level, apple production is forecast at 10.5 million tonnes, similar to last year but 7.5% below the three-year average. Growth is expected in Poland, France, and Germany, while Italy records a decline. Pear output in Europe should rise slightly to 1.79 million tonnes, helped by recoveries in Belgium and the Netherlands, but Italy faces a sharp 24.7% drop.
