The successful entry of Moroccan citrus into Japan highlights Morocco’s capacity to meet international quality standards and expand its global market presence.
Morocco has sent its first shipment of citrus fruits to Japan, according to Moroccan media. The shipment was approved by Japanese health authorities after meeting all sanitary and regulatory requirements.
This achievement follows inspections and audits conducted by Japanese officials in Morocco, where they evaluated farms, packing stations, and the certification system managed by the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA).
To build on this success, a Moroccan trade delegation will visit Tokyo from April 14 to 19 after Ramadan. The delegation, which includes over 100 representatives from both countries, aims to strengthen trade ties and promote Moroccan citrus fruits in Japan and across Asia.
A marketing campaign will accompany the visit, positioning Moroccan citrus as a premium product in the Japanese market. This new export route is expected to increase Morocco’s agricultural sales in Asia and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
