Cesare Prandelli, the head coach of the Italian team, is the star of the campaign to support Italian DOP and IGP products.
MIPAAL, the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, launched the campaign "# iomangioitaliano" starring Cesare Prandelli, selector and head coach of the national football team. The objective of the campaign is to increase understanding of labels DOP (di Denominazioni Origin) and IGP (Indicazioni Geografiche).
Only one third of Italian consumers recognize these products synonyms of quality and safety. Italy, however, has the largest concentration of labeled products: 36% DOP and IGP 32%, while the European average is 14%. Italy is even the first country in the world, totaling 264 food and 523 labeled wines.
These recognized labels are a guarantee of a process of fully traceable and controlled production with a certain origin of raw materials and a specific area of ??production. These labels have more than 150,000 companies, generating more than 12 billion euros of turnover.
