A new site and a state-of-the-art ripening facility for Fruidor

The Fruidor site is located in Saint-André-de-Cubzac, north of the city of Bordeaux. Fruidor has begun the final round of testing for an opening in a few weeks. The site includes 5,400 m2 of warehouses, including 30 ripening rooms that can accommodate 26 pallets, or 780 pallets in total. The capacity will reach 32 to 35,000 tons of bananas per year.

 

The construction was entrusted to GSE, which assembled the shell of the building. Cold Energy, a specialist in industrial refrigeration, has installed its Ecotop ripening system which is designed to achieve perfect ripening while managing to reduce energy consumption.

 

Energy consumption was an important element in the design of the building which received over-insulation, which has photovoltaic panel equipment allowing autonomy, and which benefits from a heat recovery system.

 

The Saint-André-de-Cubzac site will also include 250m2 of offices to house the sales department, the team required for ripening, the organization required for handling, and the Quality department. The bananas ripened on the site will be distributed throughout the greater South West.

 

Included in the SOLVEG Group, Fruidor is a major operator on the French market, with a network of more than a dozen industrial ripening facilities. Fruidor mainly sources bananas from Guadeloupe and Martinique, but also from third-party producers selected in the rest of the world and sharing the same values: Africa, Caribbean, Latin America, etc.

 

 

In total, Fruidor has 21 sites in France and markets around 325,000 tonnes of products (bananas, fruit, vegetables).
