Spain, the Netherlands and France lead trade in the EU

Within the European Union, trade in fresh fruit and vegetables amounted to 40.3 million tonnes in 2020. The member states which export the most fruit and vegetables to the rest of the EU countries are 'Spain, the Netherlands and France, follow Belgium, Italy and Germany.
According to Eurostat data, the statistical office of the European Union, processed by FEPEX, intra-community trade in fresh fruit and vegetables, which reflects exports between EU member states, amounted to 40.3 million tonnes in 2020.
Spain represented 31% of the volume, with 12.3 million tonnes; the Netherlands 23% with 9.4 million tonnes; France 10% with 3.8 million tonnes. Belgium follows 9% with 3.7 million tonnes, Italy 7% with 2.89 million tonnes and Germany 7% with 2.83 million tonnes.
Other fruit and vegetable producing countries, such as Greece and Poland, also exported part of their production to the EU. Greece sold 1.2 million tonnes and Poland 1.1 million tonnes.
