The NEPG expects a record in harvest of potatoes
According to estimates from NEPG (North-Western European Potato Growers), the expected harvest of potatoes consumption will rise to record levels.
The NEPG provides 25.5 million tons in the 5 leading countries (England, Germany, Belgium, France, Netherlands) for potatoes in fresh market and processing. This would correspond to a higher harvest of about 1.6 million tons harvested last year.
This increase is due to an expected average yield of over 47 t / ha, the highest in six years. According to last figures, the total area of potatoes would also be increased by 1.3% over last year.
Harvest estimates are based on samples in fields and on observations made in the 5 countries of the NEPG by its member organizations (the main producer organizations), and the average yield over the last 5 years for the Potato Council in Great Britain.
