UHF kicking off the launch of three new showcase farms in Europe

Urban Health Farms (UHF), vertical farming company, together with professional investors and other parties, kicking off the launch of three new showcase farms in France, Italy and Spain this year.

According to Bernard Sleijster, Partner and Director of UHF, the first phase of operation is their showcase farms, which will be funded by a Convertible Bond issuance, and will allow the company to begin operations in all three countries. The second phase will be the launch of industrial-scale, fully automated indoor vertical farms, using an Equity Fund as the preferred financial structure.

In the summer of 2021, the company will launch funding collaboration with a Fund Manager from Luxembourg for 100 million euros. UHF expects to operate in 10 different locations, for which the company will need €10 million per farm to cover all capital expenditures.

Urban Health Farms is a partnership between Agritech Capital Plc (Urban Farms Capital) and Urban Crop Solutions bvba (Urban Crop Solutions). Urban Crop Solutions does not operate its own farms, but provides full technology solutions, while Urban Health Farms manages and operates the farms.

Bernard says that within the company, UHF considers themselves as technology agnostic, as their industry is young, rapidly growing, and therefore technology is constantly changing. "Each country and region has different characteristics in terms of food, culture and demands of consumers. We are adapting our farms to the demand and preferences of the local market by brining different technologies together and customizing them to each farm. When we develop a farm, we look at it from the perspective of a crop," he added.

Urban Health Farms are comprised of 10 sea containers, which are interconnected and providing eight growing areas. Showcase Farms are adaptable, scalable and efficient. They combine cutting-edge engineering and biology.  Due to it, UHF will be operational quickly, allowing for the transition to the second phase of operation.

Based in Belgium, Urban Health Farms, in the partnership with Urban Farms Capital and Urban Crop Solutions, aims to revolutionise the way food is produced and distributed through indoor vertical farms, which are at the forefront of the intersection between agriculture and technology.
