Philippine tomato prices climb more than 50% year on year

The latest survey shows a rapid change within only a few weeks.
The average retail price of tomatoes in the Philippines reached PHP115.26 ($1.88) per kg in mid-July, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
This was 18.7% higher than the PHP97.07 ($1.58) recorded at the beginning of July. Compared with mid-June, when tomatoes averaged PHP84.49 ($1.38) per kg, the increase reached 36.4%.
The rise was even stronger year on year. Tomatoes cost PHP76.61 ($1.25) per kg during the same period in July 2025, meaning prices increased by just over 50% within 12 months.
The figures are national retail averages collected during selected monitoring periods and may differ between regions and individual markets.
