New transformation unit for mangoes and bananas

Some 30 000 small producers of mangoes and bananas will have a new outlet for their products.

Msabaha in Kilifi County, a processing plant is under construction. Funded by the ICDC (Industrial and Commercial Development Co-operation) plant will be operational from March.

The plant will be able to process and produce 5 tons of products per hour or 90 tons of mango juice and banana in one day. The promoters of the operation predict that 80% of products are exported and only 20% sold locally.
