Mexico sends over 90% of its fruit and veg exports to the U.S.

Over 90% of Mexico’s fruit, vegetable, and horticultural exports are being shipped to the United States, according to the Grupo Consultor de Mercados Agrícolas (GCMA). The most exported fresh items include tomato, green chili, cucumber, avocado, lime, and banana.
Roughly 98% of Mexico’s global vegetable exports, amounting to around 6.6 million metric tons, are sent to the U.S. market. Other frequently exported fruits and vegetables include watermelon, onion, zucchini, lettuce, tomatillo, carrot, asparagus, mango, grape, strawberry, papaya, raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry.
Exports also extend to steam-cooked and dried produce, including figs, pineapples, guavas, and cabbages, alongside nuts and beans. According to the Ministry of Economy, Mexico additionally supplies the U.S. with both fresh and processed products, such as those preserved in water or vapor and a growing range of value-added items.
