‘The Friendly pear’ will continue to conquer the world

FruitMasters is a cooperative of Dutch fruit growers, established in 1904. Today cooperative has more than 400 members and is one of the largest suppliers of the highest quality fruit. 30% of their turn over is soft fruits, 40% - apples and 30% - pears. The cooperative is famous for traditional produce and also actively invests in new varieties.

Managing Director Sales at FruitMasters Leonard Kampschöer tells that Migo® pear was grounded in France after many years of research and now is being grown in Holland. GKE made a research among pear lovers and haters to hear what they wanted. People wanted pears to be less messy but juicy, with longer shelf life. They wanted a pear that can be eaten as snack on the go. Migo®, ‘the Friendly pear’, appeared to answer those needs.

“This pear makes you smile because of its branding – it smiles to you. It can be eaten by consumers anywhere: at the gym, on the beach, on the way to work or at school. You can eat it without getting juice on your clothes, without leaking on your paper work as Migo® stays crunchy”  – explains Leonard Kampschöer. “The concept of Migo® makes consumers happy. No one leaves the shop without a smile when they see this cute branding”.

“Because Migo® is becoming more and more popular in Europe, Asia and worldwide, last two years we have planted 450 000 trees and the production is coming up. We hope this pear will be a success, as consumers like taste and design very much. It is a new hit!” – finishes Mr. Kampschöer.
