This year Germany expects one of its lowest production of potatoes.
The harvest of potatoes will be one of the lowest
The various forecasts (NEPG, Deutschen Kartoffelhandelsverbandes Europatat) believes that the production of potatoes in Germany will rise to 9.2 million tons.
Poor weather conditions explain this low production according to the federal ministry of Agriculture (BMELV). Cold and wet spring, heat wave in July then heavy rains, hail and floods have had certain impact on performance. Areas rose by +1.2% and now cover 241,200 hectares.
