Camposol, the world leader in exports of asparagus, is considering the reduction of surfaces and can be withdrawn from the asparagus market.
The world leader in exports of asparagus plans to reduce its surfaces.
Camposol is not planning to renew its existing surfaces for asparagus because asparagus has a life cycle of 10 years and it is currently in its 8 year of this cycle. The company should now be renewing hundreds of hectares but an increase in production costs has discouraged
this.
Costs have increased so much that Camposol estimates for the first time a 30% increase in export prices for its asparagus. It is now reducing its surfaces of asparagus to explore other crops and might quit the asparagus market.
