Sustained growth in Spanish fruit and vegetable exports

Stone fruit showed general increases, except for plums.
Between January and September 2024, Spain exported 9 million tons of fresh fruits and vegetables, generating a total value of €13.044 billion. This represents a 9% increase in volume and a 5% increase in value compared to the same period in the previous year, according to statistics from the Department of Customs and Excise.
Fruits accounted for €7.379 billion and 5,004,938 tons, showing a 9% growth in value and a 9.5% growth in volume.
Stone fruit showed general increases, except for plums. Nectarines totaled 317,713 tons (+13.5%) and €468 million (+11%).
Flat peaches reached 200,403 tons (+12%) and €309 million (+19%).
Watermelons amounted to 777,064 tons (+16%) and €545 million (+10%).
Melons reached 325,449 tons (+6%) and €312.5 million (+9%).
Red fruits, specifically strawberries, totaled 252,815 tons (+4%) and €773 million (+12%).
Vegetables reached €5.665 billion with 4,049,716 tons, showing a slight decrease of -0.3% in value but a 9% increase in volume.
Bell peppers reached 555,006 tons (+15%) and €1.1 billion (+0.2%).
Lettuce reached 501,240 tons (+5%) and €612 million (-3.5%).
Tomatoes reached 499,994 tons (+19%) and €780 million (-10%).
Cucumbers reached 429,871 tons (+4%) and €587 million (-7%).
