Citrus of Sicily for photovoltaic energy
FJ
The production of photovoltaic systems based on citrus waste.
"Sagro" is a research project conducted by the Faculty of Catania and the Faculty of Messina with the participation of Sicilian companies. For the production of photovoltaic systems based on vegetable waste of citrus .
Citrus waste will be used to develop pigments which will be used for photo-sensitization solar cells. The cost of production, from the vegetable waste, is considerably less than the usual methods. In addition, these new cells offer more applications, such as, for instance, on the vertical walls of buildings or indoor use with low light.
The potential economic impact of the project is important. Implementation of the first entirely Sicilian photovoltaic energy industrial chain. Demonstrating the synergy between scientific and technical expertise of all project partners. Sicily and Italy at the head of a photovoltaic sector, freed from the monopoly of foreign companies.
