Demand for potatoes nosedive in Poland
Based on the recent data, potatoes prices landslide within vegetables market of Poland this month. According to the latest information, potatoes costs have skid down to 0,06 – 0,09 EUROkg, while last year prices comprised approximately 0,18 – 0,31 EUROkg. This price drop could be attributed both to low demand and restricted export abilities. All these factors prevent local farmers from increasing potatoes costs within domestic market of Poland. Consequently, low sales could affect future sales rates of new harvest potatoes. Polish potatoes producers are concerned with possible recurrence of 2012-2013 season, when due to large stocks of “old” potatoes, they were forced to sell new potatoes at low prices.
