Canada rejects Japanese pears

A shipment of Japanese pears has been rejected by Canada because mites have been found on the fruit. The rejected shipment was a 28-ton load of Twentieth Century variety pears from the Tottori Prefecture. Canadian quarantine authorities said the mites they found resemble a type the country is trying to keep out.
