The Asian markets are interested by bananas from Honduras

According to the association of independent banana producers, Honduras could rapidly increase its exports.

 
The director of the Asociación de Independientes Bananeros, Arturo Castillo, announced that he had received offers for export to Asian markets. The country is considered as an alternative to production in Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Honduras has exported during the first half of this year 13,367,700 boxes of 18.14 kilos which represent 1,874,400 boxes additional, an increase of 16.3% over the previous year. Its main customer is the United States. Foreign exchange earnings were  $ 163.7 million U.S. dollars.
