Apple production in China is expected to fall by at least 25%, according to estimates.
China should record for its apple production a volume at the lowest. This decline in domestic production will cause a drop in its exports and probably a considerable increase in its imports.
According to a USDA study, apple production in China is expected to fall by at least 25 percent to its lowest level in nine years. Frost in April and heavy rains and hail in May affected the orchards in the main producing provinces.
This decline in domestic production will lead to a decline in exports, perhaps a third of the volume. As well as an increase in imports, these could rise from 12 000 tonnes to 75 000 tonnes.
