Packham Pears New Leader in Russian Fruit Market
Russia
Monday 23 April 2007
Last week was definitely the week of Packham pears. It was the only fresh produce which had significant sales, the other fruits were rather scarce as the market usually demanded products not available. Some activity was shown in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow. Siberia had a better week comparing with Moscow area, other regions were rather quiet. Deliveries of citrus fruit were kept on level of 10 000 pallets per week from Morocco, Egypt and Cyprus.
Regarding oranges last week's price for Moroccan is kept on 0,845 $/kg level, small ones (size 7) further declined to 0,615 US$/kg as they are not in demand. Similar situation is with Egyptian oranges in the south of the country - 0,795 US$/kg and 0,70 US$/kg respectively. The situation with Cyprus produce didn't change since last week - 0,74 US$/kg in Ural!
